NORRA Cancels All Events Until 2021
The National Off Road Racing Association has postponed all 2020 events, including the NORRA Mexican 1000 and NORRA 500, until 2021.
Organizers cited the outbreak of coronavirus in Baja California, Mexico as the reasoning for the postponement of the Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 presented by Method Race Wheels.
“NORRA always puts an emphasis on having fun,” said Mike Pearlman, president and CEO of NORRA. “We want everyone to be able to come down, and at the same time we don’t want to put our friends in Baja at risk. Many of our competitors are legends in the sport so they’ve been around awhile, if you know what I mean. It would not be as much fun if they were uncomfortable traveling away from home, and the last thing we want to see is anyone getting sick. Everyone should be able to fully enjoy the race, and to have fun at the parties without being worried about the virus. We feel the best thing to do to accomplish this is to wait until Baja has recovered.”
The organization has set the following schedule for 2021:
- Mexican 1000 – April 23-30
- NORRA 500 – Oct. 7-10
