Corvette Design Panel Planned for Lime Rock Park Historic Festival

As part of its upcoming commemoration of 70 years of Corvette history at the 40th Historic Festival, Lime Rock Park will host a dinner and panel discussion on Sept. 3 that focuses on the car’s design concepts over the years, track officials announced.

The panel, called “Corvette Design: Past, Present…and a Hint of the Future,” will feature four senior GM Design executives, event organizers said. Michael Simcoe, the current leader of GM Global Design, will be participating in the discussion, as well as his predecessor, Ed Welburn. Also taking part in the panel will be Phil Zak, executive director of Global Chevrolet Design, as well as his predecessor John Cafaro, who also served as Corvette chief designer from 1986 to 1999.

The dinner and panel will take place following on-track events on Sept. 3, in the Lime Rock Park infield at 6:00 p.m. Prior to the dinner, a collection of Corvette concept cars, as well as historic competitive cars, will be on display at the track.
