BILDTRAK Signs Multiyear Agreement With Factory Five Racing

Beginning in 2027, every complete component car kit will ship with a hardware mapping system to help builders track fasteners from start to finish…

BILDTRAK Inc. announced at the SEMA Show a multiyear agreement with Factory Five Racing Inc., a manufacturer of component car kits. Beginning in 2027, every Factory Five complete vehicle kit will include a BILDTRAK G1, so builders receive both the parts to build their car and a system to track exactly how those parts go together, BILDTRAK company officials said in a press release.

The agreement also makes BILDTRAK products available through Factory Five’s online store and brings the G1 into Factory Five’s Build School, where builders learn the skills to assemble their own cars.

What the Partnership Means for Kit Builders

“Factory Five has spent three decades proving regular people can make extraordinary cars. Those are exactly the people we created BILDTRAK for,” said Scott Shaffstall, co-founder and CEO of BILDTRAK Inc. “For those that chose to build over buying, the G1 will keep them on track through the weeks and months of wrenching until their first drive. Partnering with the leader in component cars tells builders this is a tool made for exactly the work they do.”

Mapping Every Fastener in Component Car Builds

Since 1995, Factory Five, the Wareham, Massachusetts company, has delivered tens of thousands of complete vehicle kits from the Mk5 Roadster and Type 65 Coupe to the off-road XTF. The BILDTRAK G1 lets builders map every bolt, nut and washer exactly where it came from. When reassembly is required for a repair or modification, there is a detailed map to follow, making assembly, maintenance and modification faster and more accurate, the company said.

“Our customers don’t buy a Factory Five as a complete car. They build it as a labor of love,” said Dave Smith, president of Factory Five Racing. “We put a lot of thought into what goes in every kit, and keeping track of hundreds of fasteners is one of the biggest challenges our builders face. Including a BILDTRAK G1 means every builder starts organized and gets on the road or track sooner.”

How the Hardware Mapping System Works

The BILDTRAK G1 is a visual hardware mapping system with a rugged, impact-resistant shell and reusable, self-healing layout panels. Builders draw bolt patterns on the writable surface, press fasteners in the order they came off and write notes next to the hardware. It works flat on a bench, upright on the move or mounted to a shop wall, the release note.
