Old World Industries Expands in Mexico With Acquisition of J&J Lubricantes

Companies will produce locally made coolants, diesel exhaust fluids, oils & other lubricants for the Mexican market…

Old World Industries (OWI), maker of PEAK automotive antifreeze and coolant and BlueDEF diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), announced the acquisition of J&J Lubricantes, a manufacturer and distributor of automotive coolants, oils and other lubrication products, based in Monterrey, Mexico.

The acquisition elevates the two companies’ 25-year partnership and unlocks new growth potential across Mexico for OWI, noted officials in a press release. One key element of the strategy will be the local manufacturing and distribution of OWI’s flagship products. Additionally, OWI said that it will leverage its customer-first mindset, technical knowledge and expertise to better address customer needs in the Mexico market.

“We’re excited to grow with our customers and take a bigger role as the right solutions provider for quality coolants, DEF, oils and other lubricants in Mexico,” said Greg Noethlich, chief executive officer of OWI. “We are continuing to invest in bringing quality products and technologies with simplified supply chain solutions to our customers.”

Growth & Faster Lead Times With Local Manufacturing

While J&J Lubricantes and OWI have enjoyed a long and successful partnership, OWI’s new ownership now positions the company to respond to the region’s evolving needs with speed and agility, according to the press release. This local presence will bring improved lead times, speed up the time to market for new products and enhance support for customers.

“Our goal is to build on the base of our strong history with J&J Lubricantes,” Warren Morrow, chief operating officer of OWI, said. “This will allow us to serve customers with improved lead times and better distribution costs.”

By producing locally, listening to customers and following key market trends, OWI aims to introduce product innovations that meet regional demands through expanding its distribution footprint, packaging updates, formulation improvements and new technologies.
