Senate Passes Package to Boost U.S. Computer Chip Production | THE SHOPThe U.S. Senate has passed legislation to boost the country’s computer chip production, NBC News reported.

The package earmarks more than $50 billion in subsidies for domestic semiconductor manufacturing and research and aims to help reduce supply chain issues and dependency on Taiwan, which currently manufactures 90% of the world’s computer chips.

The bill also includes tens of billions of dollars more in authorizations for science and research programs, as well as for regional technology hubs around the country, according to the report.
