Porsche Kills Off ICE 718 Models

News from Car & Driver reports that Porsche has confirmed the end of production for gas-powered Cayman and Boxster models for 2025. The brand plans to announce a full EV 718 model in 2025.

This comes as a sudden surprise considering Porsche’s previous commitments to ICE engines and alternative fuels. Cybersecurity regulations for EU cars killed off the 718 for Europeans earlier this year. 

Porsche’s production manager noted the models were not killed off due to sales, but to make room for more EV models in the lineup. Aside from the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman, the brand has also announced the end of the ICE Macan models to follow suit.
