Performance Distributors is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The distributor manufacturer has been designing specialty and high performance distributors since 1974.
Kelly Davis founded Performance Distributors when he was rebuilding distributors in the family’s two-car garage. Davis helped to design some of the aftermarket industry’s first High Energy Ignition (HEI) systems. Within a few years both the aftermarket and OEMs had moved away from condenser style ignition systems in favor of Davis’ and similarly designed HEI systems.
Davis’ son, Steve, continues to develop performance focused injection systems for a variety of vehicle applications both on the street and trackside including numerous applications for classic American makes and models.
Since Davis’ passing in 2000, Steve and his mom, Pat, direct the company. The brand continues to make ignition systems that really make a difference — not just to ignite a spark.
To celebrate Performance Distributors 50th anniversary, the brand will have office manager, Brian Caruth, hosting a special private cookout for brand employees and their families at the brand’s Memphis facility.
“Since 1974 our brand has been supported by countless customers, dealers, and loyal employees. Thanks to all those that helped to make it happen,” said Davis.
