Mitsubishi Motors makes its first SEMA Show appearance since 2012 with six vehicles, including the world debut of the 2028 Outlander Diamond Trail Edition…
Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. (MMNA) announced its return to the SEMA Show, Nov. 3-6, 2026, in Las Vegas, marking the brand’s first appearance at the automotive aftermarket event since 2012. Headlining Mitsubishi Motors’ exhibit at Booth 52249 in West Hall will be the world debut of the all-new 2028 Outlander Diamond Trail Edition, the most capable and adventure-focused Outlander ever offered in North America, company officials said in a press release. In total, six vehicles will be showcased, ranging from factory-built adventure models to highly customized concept builds inspired by the brand’s off-road heritage.
“SEMA is where automotive passion, innovation and personalization come together, making it the ideal stage for the world debut of the all-new Outlander Diamond Trail Edition,” said Mark Chaffin, president and CEO, MMNA. “This vehicle represents the next step in our Momentum 2030 vision, combining Mitsubishi Motors’ off-road heritage with the capability, technology and versatility today’s customer demands. From the production model to the customized concepts on display, we’re showing enthusiasts how far their adventures can go, while reinforcing our goal to helping customers truly ‘Drive their Ambition.'”
Off-Road Outlander Anchors Mitsubishi’s Momentum 2030 Plan
Mitsubishi Motors’ Momentum 2030 long-term business plan sets the goals for the future of the brand in North America, with a clear focus on adventure and vehicle capability, as well as building on its history of quality, dependability and reliability, the release noted. The 2028 Outlander Diamond Trail Edition brings a new level of ruggedness and confidence to North America’s best-selling Mitsubishi nameplate.
The 2028 Mitsubishi Outlander Diamond Trail Edition will head a new generation of off-road-capable vehicles, bringing the brand’s heritage in design and off-road ability to a family-focused SUV. Delivering on the brand’s broader commitment to an expanded product lineup, the all-new rugged Outlander variant debuts off-road-focused bodywork, all-terrain tires, revised approach and departure angles, and a new Rock drive mode to create the most capable Outlander ever offered, the company said.
New Rock Mode Expands S-AWC Off-Road Capability
In this special Diamond Trail Edition model, the standard Outlander’s Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system is given even more capability, with the addition of a Rock mode. This setting uses enhanced brake control to quickly suppress wheel-slip and help secure traction. It activates faster than in other S-AWC modes, delivering greater confidence to the driver and helping the vehicle maintain traction.
A new screen can be displayed in the instrument cluster, showing front-wheel steering angle, individual wheel-slip and traction-control intervention. The Multi-View Camera System can also be activated and remains on up to 18.6 mph (30 km/h), increased from 6.2 mph (10 km/h) in the standard model. Additionally, when Rock mode is selected, Hill Descent Control (HDC) is automatically activated as well, helping the driver control the vehicle speed in rocky or mogul terrain. HDC can be adjusted for the speed at which it holds the vehicle, supporting driver confidence and passenger comfort.
Off-Road Bodywork, All-Terrain Tires & Interior Upgrades
Outlander Diamond Trail Edition features a rugged and powerful grille finished in matte black, along with black Dynamic Shield trim. Headlights receive a black finish in keeping with the theme. Redesigned bumpers front and rear improve approach and departure angles, improving approach from 18.3 to 20.5 degrees and departure from 22.2 to 23.1 degrees.
Aggressive over-fenders provide a rugged finish and, matched with unique 18×7.5-inch black alloy wheels and dedicated Nexen Roadian ATX all-terrain tires, make for a confident, trail-ready presence. Raised roof rails allow easy installation of roof racks and securing cargo.
On the inside, an all-new seating material is finished in dark gray with khaki stitching, unique to the Diamond Trail Edition. This material repels water and is easier to clean, further supporting outdoor lifestyle adventure. Unified matte and dark tones with textured matte black, dark chrome and dark satin reinforce the Diamond Trail Edition’s unique interior character. The distinctive Diamond Trail Edition logo, intended to be representative of skilled athletes on a downhill course and playing on the motif of the brand’s Three Diamonds, is applied to the seat backs, floor mats and the door trim.
The Outlander Diamond Trail Edition debuts a new color for the Mitsubishi palette: Trail Green Metallic. It reflects the rugged outdoors with the earth tones usually associated with nature and can be offset with a white roof. The three models on display at SEMA are finished in this color combination.
