iRacing Bringing North Wilkesboro Speedway Back to Virtual Life
iRacing and retired NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. are teaming up to bring the famous North Wilkesboro Speedway back to life on the racing simulator. As documented on social media, a team composed of Earnhardt Jr. and iRacing staff have spent several days preparing the track to be scanned and uploaded to the online racing platform.
Greg Hill, iRacing’s senior vice president of product development, tweeted that, when available, the track will resemble its state in 1987.
Another day at historic #northwilkesboro We are scanning the track and will build it in @iRacing as if it was 1987. That process will involve research to discover what it looked like then. If you guys have any good 1987 photo or video reference we’d appreciate it. My DMs are open pic.twitter.com/7F3To8vfcv

The track will be available in 2020, according to Jalopnik.
The North Carolina short track first hosted NASCAR races in 1949 and continued to do so until the track closed in 1996.
