Ginetta Climbs GT Motorsport Ladder With New Purpose-Built GT2 Competitor

Longtime British sports car racing company unveils new GT2 entrant at Spa-Francorchamps round of the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli…

Ginetta has unveiled its brand-new GT2 competitor. Capable of competing under SRO GT2 regulations, the Ginetta GT2 represents the new pinnacle of the brand’s famed GT racing ladder, according to the company in a press release. Developing drivers through Junior, GT Academy, GTP8 and GT4 tiers, Ginetta alumni—including Lando Norris, Jamie Chadwick and Issac Hadjar—have gone on to race in championships such as the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, Formula 2, IndyCar, FIA World Endurance and IMSA Sportscars.

The Ginetta GT2 aligns with the SRO’s newly announced series structure, catering for a wide range of driver categories, from aspiring Silver amateurs to professionals at a Platinum level. With the GT2, it will now be possible for drivers wishing to remain within the Ginetta family and those new to the brand to take their talent even further. Entrants into one of the world’s most prestigious racing categories will have the option of choosing a thoroughbred race car that combines extreme power with surprising drivability, giving developing drivers the comfort to feel in control and experienced professionals everything they need to win, noted the release.

Power & Performance of the New Ginetta Racing Machine

As with all Ginetta products, the GT2 is not a track-modified road car, but a purposefully designed and built racing machine. Powered by a Ginetta-manufactured supercharged 6.3-liter V-8, the GT2 is capable of up to 800 bhp (pre-BOP adjustment) and benefits from upgrades including a billet aluminum block and billet dry sump, both also machined in-house by Ginetta engineers.

Full carbon fiber bodywork assists in keeping the GT2’s target weight down to just 2,775 pounds (subject to Balance of Performance). Meanwhile, top-tier components from industry-leading partners include an XTrac trans axle LMP gearbox with custom ratios, Sachs triple plate clutch, Ohlins TTX40 double wishbone suspension, Alcon GT endurance brake discs and calipers, a full Motec electronic suite, and Pirelli racing slick tires.

Ginetta Moving Up the GT Global Stage

Speaking at the car’s launch at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, Mike Simpson, chief executive of Ginetta Motorsport, said, “The Ginetta GT2 is the most exciting entry into high-level GT racing available today. We are hugely proud of the new car, both in terms of what it offers drivers and what it means to the brand. Today’s announcement will allow our drivers to perform under globally leading SRO GT2 regulations, with direct access to a thriving international race calendar. In doing so, it will truly represent Ginetta on the global GT stage, showcasing our engineering excellence and driver-first ethos. I can’t wait to see it on the grid.”

Stéphane Ratel, founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports Group, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Ginetta to the GT2 European Series grid for 2026. With a number of exciting initiatives in place for next season, the addition of a new manufacturer is especially encouraging. The Ginetta GT2 promises to uphold the brand’s reputation for performance and affordability, while also adding greater variety to the field. SRO has enjoyed a long and fruitful partnership with Ginetta, which has been a cornerstone of GT4 since the category was launched in 2007. I am hopeful that we can replicate this success in GT2.”
