The American Welding Society (AWS) has announced a new strategic partnership with NARSA/IDEA International Heat Transfer Association, the international trade association for the heat transfer and diesel emissions industries. This collaboration unites two organizations committed to elevating technical excellence, supporting workforce development, and delivering high-value training to professionals in the heavy-duty cooling, heat exchange and diesel emissions sectors, association officials stated in a press release.

Through this partnership, NARSA/IDEA and AWS will jointly develop specialized welding education and certification pathways tailored to the unique needs of radiator, heat exchanger and emissions component manufacturers and service providers, noted the release. The initiative will focus on aluminum welding, copper-brass brazing, precision repair processes, and emerging technologies essential to thermal management and diesel emissions applications.

The organizations also stated that the partnership will explore opportunities for:

  • Co-branded workshops, hands-on clinics and technical seminars
  • Joint development of best-practice guidelines and safety standards
  • Cross-promotion of workforce training and certification programs
  • Speaker exchanges at conferences, trade events and industry forums
  • Collaborative outreach to attract new technicians into welding and related career paths.
