Air|Water Driven by Mobil 1 Reveals More Details of Upcoming Porsche Show

The all-inclusive Porsche experience takes place on Saturday, April 26, in Costa Mesa, California…

With final preparations underway for the third annual Air|Water Driven by Mobil 1 event on April 26 in Costa Mesa, California, show organizers have shared more details about the activities and vehicles visitors can expect.

The all-inclusive Porsche experience, brought to you by the team behind the Luftgekühlt Porsche shows, will feature a curated collection of high-performance machines. Attendees can enjoy everything from street-driven to racing Porsches—both air- and water-cooled—from the earliest 356 to the latest 2025 models. Air|Water ticket holders can also experience the new 911 with a professional driver on a specialized course, thanks to Porsche Cars North America.

While it was previously confirmed that the 1985 McLaren MP4/2B, powered by the Porsche-TAG turbo engine, would be the guest of honor at Air|Water Driven by Mobil 1, organizers have chosen to keep several other surprises under wraps. However, they have revealed details on several attractions and events, the first of which is an art installation by Joshua Vides, who is internationally known for his black & white art. The Southern California resident has worked in streetwear for more than a decade and applied his unique approach to cars. Vides’ work was recently highlighted in an installation in downtown Los Angeles.

In another event, brand partners Mobil 1 and Optima Batteries will unveil brand-new liveries for two Porsche race cars prepared by BBI Autosport and destined to tackle the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in June. The cars will be driven in the Race to the Clouds by Air|Water’s Creative Director Jeff Zwart and racer Loni Unser. Both machines will be unveiled in the Optima area by Zwart.

Broad Arrow Auction

Broad Arrow returns for its second annual all-Porsche auction in partnership with Air|Water Driven by Mobil 1. The live auction allows all Air|Water ticket holders to view or participate. Interested parties are also able to preview the selection of cars and Porsche automobilia on Friday, April 25, inside The Hangar building at the Air|Water venue.

At the auction will be a 1989 RUF CTR Yellowbird, which has an estimated value of $4.5–$5.5 million. The estimation is based on it being one of only 29 Group C Turbo Ruf (CTR) Yellowbirds with the W09 designation, indicating it was fully built in-house. The car was Factory authenticated with a RUF Zertifikat in 2016 and is the only Yellowbird specified with a special lightweight interior.

The CTR is a fully matching numbers example with the 469-hp 3.4-liter twin-turbo flat-6 engine and RUF six-speed manual transmission. As such, it would be capable of the Yellowbird’s proven 213-mph top speed. Full details about the 1989 RUF CTR Yellowbird auction can be found here.

Other auction highlights include a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach in Martini livery (estimated value $2.7–$3 million), 2005 Carrera GT ($1.8–$2.1 million), 1966 Porsche 906, 1990 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer, 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 X88, 2012 RUF Rt 12 S with factory-fitted R-spec engine, 2019 911 Speedster, 2024 718 Spyder RS Weissach and more. Details on all the cars available at the auction can be found here.

Exhibitor Hall

For only the second time, Air|Water will have an Exhibitor Hall. More than 45 companies have committed to attend, and the list of exhibitors includes experts in Porsche aftermarket products, performance and restoration, as well as fashion and accessories suppliers.

In addition, Luftgekühlt will have an outlet located in the Exhibitor Hall offering art and books capturing the past 11 years of Luftgekühlt events. Patrick Long and Jeff Zwart will be in the Exhibitor Hall to sign the latest Luft Book v3 book or posters.

The After-Party

Overcrest Productions and CSF Radiators have organized an off-site after-party to support the Overcrest Foundation. Called Harmony After Air|Water, it will take place at the Finish Line Auto Club in nearby Costa Mesa.

The event will feature a select display of Porsches, food and drinks and live music. It will also be the launch party for the Overcrest Foundation 501C charity and will help to raise funds that can be disbursed by the charity throughout the year. CSF is covering the event costs, ensuring all proceeds from the party will go to the Foundation.

Road To Air|Water Driven by Mobil 1

At the time of writing, limited spaces were still available for the second annual Overcrest Road to Air|Water in partnership with Hagerty. The one-of-a-kind driving experience offers participants the opportunity to drive on an epic rally route. Entry details and pricing for the Road to Air|Water are available here.

Luftgekühlt 11 Announced

Dedicated exclusively to air-cooled Porsche models, the host city for Luftgekühlt 11 has finally been announced. The show is heading to Durham, North Carolina, on October 4, 2025.

This will be the first time Luft has held the event on the East Coast, allowing air-cooled Porsche fans to experience what makes the Luftgekühlt event series so special. It also means Air|Water is the only chance for West Coast enthusiasts to participate in 2025.
