Jeep has announced the return of the optional TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission for 2025 Jeep Wrangler four-door models equipped with 3.6L V-6 engines.

“In response to enthusiastic requests, we’re reintroducing the 8-speed automatic transmission for V-6 Wrangler models, underscoring our commitment to freedom of choice, performance and versatility for every adventure,” said Bob Broderdorf, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “We deeply value our community’s passion and input.”

New Wrangler four-door models come standard with the Pentastar 3.6L V-6 engine, delivering 285 hp and 260 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission (excluding Sahara). The TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission is available as a $4,500 option, according to the carmaker.

Engineered for smooth operation and maximum efficiency, the TorqueFlite pairs seamlessly with Wrangler’s four available advanced 4×4 systems: Command-Trac, Rock-Trac (part-time and full-time) and Selec-Trac, the company stated.

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler offers additional powertrains, including the 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine (270 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque) paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, plus the returning Wrangler 392, featuring a 6.4L V-8 engine producing 470 hp and 470 pound-feet of torque.

Additionally, the 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a 2.0L turbocharged gas engine, two electric motors, an 8-speed automatic transmission and a high-voltage battery pack, delivering 49 MPGe and 21 miles of all-electric range.
