The Rock Motorsports Hall of Fame announced the induction of Walker Evans, a true legend in off-road whose influence helped shape the very foundation of rock crawling and rock motorsports, officials stated in a press release. Evans passed away Aug. 2, 2025, at age 86.
Known as a fierce competitor, innovator, entrepreneur and friend to many, Evans built a career that spanned decades and disciplines. From his domination in short-course and desert racing to his pioneering influence in rock crawling, Evans consistently pushed the limits of performance and inspired generations of drivers, noted the release.
From Competing to Shocks & Wheels
Through his company, Walker Evans Racing, he transformed the industry with shocks and wheels that became essential equipment for competitive rock crawlers and recreational off-roaders alike. His engineering vision not only elevated performance but also fueled the growth of rock crawling into a premier motorsport category.
“Walker Evans didn’t just race—he innovated, inspired and paved the way for the sport we celebrate today,” said Ranch Pratt, co-founder of the Rock Motorsports Hall of Fame. “His contributions to technology, competition and community are unmatched, and it is our honor to recognize his legacy.”
The 2025 Rock Motorsports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held Oct. 1 at Trail Hero in Hurricane, Utah, bringing together the sport’s most influential pioneers, legends and enthusiasts to celebrate those who built the foundation of rock motorsports.
