AEV Unveils Sierra Grande Concept
American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) has unveiled the Sierra Grande concept, which represents AEV’s vision of how to elevate the foundation of the GMC Sierra HD AT4X, the company announced.
“The idea behind this concept stems from our team envisioning the most adventure-capable truck possible. With that in mind, we needed the best platform to build upon which of course led us to the GMC Sierra HD as the foundation,” comments AEV Marketing Manager Matt Feldermann. “AEV was thrilled to collaborate once again with GMC, and this new Sierra Grande concept vehicle is a testament to what two storied brands can create when working together.”
For the Sierra Grande concept, powered by a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine, AEV sourced the stamped steel front bumper from the Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition and added a prototype brush guard for even more front-end protection. Additionally, AEV added four 7000 series off-road lights for improved visibility, a GM Performance/ComeUp 12.5k front winch, and an AEV Snorkel.
Additionally, AEV installed a stamped steel front skid plate, IFS skid plate and transfer case skid plate from the Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition. For suspension, AEV worked directly with the GMC engineering team to incorporate a variety of Sierra HD AT4X components, such as control arms, steering knuckles, rear suspension, and Multimatic DSSV dampers. This factory-tuned combination provides 1.5 inches of lift over standard HD models, AEV said.
Thanks to the additional lift height gained from the AT4X components and a pair of AEV HighMark fender flares, AEV installed a set of 40-inch BF Goodrich tires mounted on a set of AEV Salta XD wheels. Rounding out the build, an 8-foot aluminum tray bed was installed, along with an AEV vertical tire mount, custom AEV rear bumper, ComeUp 9.5k rear winch and an ARB on-board air system. A custom green paint package from AEV puts the finishing touches on the Sierra Grande concept.
The truck will be on display in AEV’s booth No. 58151 during the SEMA Show.
