Yokohama Returns to Racing

Yokohama Tire’s road racing motorsports program is back after being sidelined for months due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the tire manufacturer announced.

Yokohama returns to the track this month with two Porsche one-make race series events: The Porsche Sprint Trophy USA West, July 17-19 at the Utah Motorsports Campus in Grantsville, Utah and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama, July 31-August 2 at Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin.

“We’re definitely ready to roll after the long delay,” said Drew Dayton, Yokohama’s motorsports manager. “Our ADVAN racing slicks, combined with a variety of Porsche one-make racing platforms, make a great package that drivers can depend on in some of the most competitive racing conditions.”

Yokohama is partnering with Competent Motorsport and Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA) for the Porsche Sprint Trophy USA West series and is the title partner and exclusive tire provider for the six-event series. The ADVAN A005 race slick is the spec tire for all of the events and the ADVAN A006 is the rain tire.

Also starting up again is the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama. For the 12th consecutive season, Yokohama is the series’ sole tire supplier. The eight-venue series features semi-pro drivers in three classes of matched Porsches. YTC has served as the marketing and technical partner for the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama since 2009.

All Porsche GT3 Cup cars will compete on YTC’s ADVAN A005 racing slick (ADVAN A006 for rain), with cars vying for championships in three GT3 classes – Platinum, Platinum Masters and Gold – at iconic tracks throughout North America, including Road America, Sebring and Watkins Glen.
