Alpine ElectronicsChris Yato, one of the industry’s most storied fabricators, will deliver a presentation at Mobile Solutions’s next Master Tech Subwoofer Bootcamp. Mobile Solutions is a tool manufacturer dedicated to installation and fabrication training in the mobile electronics industry.

The Mobile Solutions Master Tech Subwoofer Bootcamp, set for July 27-30 at the company’s Tempe, Arizona headquarters, focuses on design concepts, technical considerations and build components to create enclosures that integrate with the vehicle and optimize the sound quality of the installed subwoofers. The class delves into the use of wood, metal and other materials to ensure a stylish, audible addition that will stand up to the rigors of the automotive environment.

Yato currently serves as American Honda Motor Corp.’s interior fabrication group leader and senior fabrication technician. He made his mark in the industry as a senior fabricator at Alpine Electronics, where he and design partner Steve Brown crafted some the industry’s most iconic builds for road and water, according to Mobile Solutions.

As part of the Master Tech Subwoofer Bootcamp curriculum, Yato will show and break down some of his most popular builds, detailing the whys behind design and build decisions as well as previously unknown techniques used to achieve some of their most unique characteristics. He also will talk with attendees about their own work and impart proven strategies for improving skill and design.

Other components of the July session will be taught by some of the industry’s top fabricators, including Gary Bell, Juan “JT” Torres and Tom Miller. Garry Springgay, acoustics engineer and owner of Cogent Audio Labs in Mesa, Arizona, will lead a discussion of practical acoustics, and Phoenix-based metal fabrication artist Jim Shaner will instruct attendees on TIG welding and metal-forming techniques.

“Every year before CES, the talk would always be about what vehicle or boat Alpine would show in their booth,” said Bryan Schmitt, founder and lead instructor for Mobile Solutions. “And people would keep talking about Chris’ and Steve’s work for months after. Seeing those builds, as well as some of the builds Chris performed later at 5 Axis really inspired the industry and encouraged installers to expand their fabrication skills. Having Chris attend our next subwoofer class is a real honor and an event our attendees will never forget.”
