Westin Automotive Inc.—a manufacturer of aftermarket truck, SUV and commercial vehicle accessories—announced the acquisition of Unique Truck Accessories (UTA), the Michigan-based manufacturer known for its BRUTE brand of commercial-grade toolboxes, flatbeds and cargo management systems. This strategic acquisition strengthens Westin’s position in the work truck, fleet and utility markets, while reinforcing its commitment to American innovation and manufacturing excellence, company officials stated in a press release.
Founded in 1992 by Stanley Lake, Unique Truck Accessories earned its reputation on ingenuity and heavy-duty craftsmanship, noted the release. Over the decades, UTA introduced numerous industry firsts, including the trailer tongue toolbox and the BRUTE BedSafe roller drawer system. Through innovation and domestic production, UTA products have become a staple among contractors, fleets and professional trades, the company said.
Westin and UTA have shared a long-standing partnership, with Westin serving as a major distributor and marketing arm for BRUTE products across North America for over 13 years. With this acquisition, Westin brings UTA’s manufacturing capabilities, patents and product lines fully under its corporate umbrella.
“This acquisition reinforces Westin’s commitment to American manufacturing and innovation,” said Bob West, CEO of Westin Automotive. “Unique Truck Accessories has been a trusted partner for years, and bringing their capabilities fully under the Westin umbrella allows us to deliver even more value, efficiency and product depth to our customers.”
Integration of BRUTE Products Will Improve Shipping Times, Efficiency & More
Westin says the acquisition comes at a time when demand for commercial storage, cargo solutions and specialty upfitting is accelerating. By integrating UTA’s operations, Westin expects to significantly reduce shipping times, enhance engineering practices, improve production scalability and increase overall efficiency. The two companies already share many major distribution partners and end customers, ensuring a seamless transition.
“By fully integrating the BRUTE product line and improving supply chain, we’ll accelerate delivery, expand deeper into fleet and utility markets and elevate our marketing efforts to showcase the full power of our combined brands,” said Tony Savasta, vice president of marketing at Westin Automotive.
UTA’s Sturgis, Michigan, facility and workforce will continue to play a central role in product development and manufacturing, officials said. Westin plans to invest in facility upgrades, tooling, technology and sales to amplify the BRUTE brand within accessory, industrial, fleet and utility channels.
According to Westin, the acquisition also creates significant opportunities for new product development, allowing the company to offer a fully integrated lineup from truck steps, front-end protection and bumpers to tonneau covers, bed caps, cargo management, and now even more toolbox and utility storage solutions. Westin’s sales team will broaden market reach into municipalities, energy sectors, emergency services and vocational fleets.
