Toyota Overtakes GM as Top-Selling Automaker in U.S.

Toyota has overtaken General Motors as the top-selling car company in the U.S. in 2021, according to a new report from CNBC.

GM sold 2.2 million vehicles in 2021, the company said, while Toyota announced 2.3 million vehicle sales over the course of the calendar year.

GM has been the largest seller of vehicles in the U.S. since 1931, when it surpassed Ford Motor, according to data from Automotive News.
