Thermo-Tec to Sponsor ‘Bone Shaker’ Jet Truck

Thermo-Tec Automotive has signed on to sponsor the Bone Shaker Jet Truck, a custom-built 1981 International Transtar 4300 race truck boasting 18,000 horsepower and 12,000 lbs. of thrust from a J79 General Electric Turbo Jet Engine, the company announced.

The J79 GE is an Axial flow turbo jet built for use in a variety of fighter and bomber aircraft. Some of the major applications include the Convair B-58 Hustler, the LOCKHEED F-104 Star Fighter and the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom, the company said.

“Our truck produces heat. Lots of heat,” said Rick Kopp, owner and driver of the Bone Shaker jet truck. “We needed a product that will shield that massive heat. Thermo-Tec’s products are number one when it comes to that.”

“We’re excited to be part of the Bone Shaker team,” said Chrissy Gilmore, CEO of Thermo-Tec. “It’s good to know that our products will be helping protect parts and components on that fire-breathing dragon. It’s an impressive truck, for sure.”
