Thermo-Tec Backs Matusek at His First Pro Stock Race

Steve Matusek, president of Lenexa, Kansas-based Aeromotive Inc., became the 449th driver to ever qualify in the NHRA Pro Stock field last weekend during the Mile High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado. After three nice runs in qualifying rounds-including a 6.956-second run against Richard Freeman in the third qualifying round-Matusek was knocked out during the first elimination round due to a technical difficulty.

Thermo-Tec had Matusek’s back during the drag racing festivities, serving as a sponsor on the Elite Motorsports 2019 Pro Stock Ford Mustang. The company will continue the sponsorship for Matusek’s next two races.

“It’s very exciting for us and, honestly, (the sponsorship) was a no-brainer,” said Brian Prior, Thermo-Tec’s director of sales and marketing. “I’ve known Steve a long time, it’s his first foray into Pro Stock and he’s doing it with a great car, so it’s all very exciting and we’re glad to be a part of it.”

“Elite Motorsports is a top team, Steve and Aeromotive make some of the best fuel systems in the industry, and we believe at Thermo-Tec we’re the top company when it comes to heat and sound insulation technology, so this pairing is just incredible,” Prior added, noting he’s known and worked with Matusek for more than 15 years.

Matusek was thankful for the support.

“We’ve always been a forward-thinking company and that’s been obvious with Thermo-Tec’s approach as well, so it really made sense to work together on this new opportunity in Pro Stock,” Matusek said. “I’m really excited to have a company of their caliber on this new journey. It’s going to be a challenge racing in this class, which makes it critical to have great partners on board. We have that with Thermo-Tec and I can’t wait to get to Denver and see what we can do on Thunder Mountain.”
