The Custom Shop ReNOVAtor Wins at Street Machine Grand Nationals

The 1966 "ReNOVAtor" took home the Street Machine Grand Champion award...

The Custom Shop celebrates its 1966 “ReNOVAtor” win of the Street Machine Grand Champion award at the 2024 Street Machine Nationals in du Quoin, Illinois, on June 23. The team aimed to build a drag-level racer with all the details of a show car and saw another success at the annual event.

The 1966 Chevrolet Nova features a Vallow chassis fitted with a 427-ci V8 with titanium valves, 6-inch titanium Crower rods, Diamond pistons, a Holley EFI system and Vintage Air pulley system.

“This is the ninth time a Custom Shop build has won a Grand Champion award at the Street Machine Nationals,” said John Wargo, founder of the Custom Shop. “We are very proud to be building at a high level and able to compete at the Street Machine Nationals.”

The exterior of the ReNOVAtor features a Torch Red and Carbon Black paint scheme thanks to ProSpray paints and the detailed paint and graphic work from Wargo and his team.

Inside the custom dash fits a Holley Digital Pro Dash, TMI chrome trim spoke wheel, TMI Chicane seats and a Sony A/V system.
