Qualifying for The 2024 Indianapolis 500 wrapped up over the weekend, with “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” set to run on May 26, 2024.
Team Penske had a big showing throughout qualifying weekend as the team locked-up all three front row positions on the grid thanks to Scott McLaughlin, Will Power, and Josef Newgarden. Arrow McLaren also saw success in qualifying with three drivers in the top 10.
McLaughlin was running quick on the final qualifying day, and set the fastest pole position time in the 108 years of the iconic race with an average speed of 234.22 mph. On average the Penske cars were running 3/4-of-a-mile-per-hour faster than the competition throughout qualifying.
The success of Penske can likely be tied to the chassis. This will be the car’s 13th year running in the event and the team has collected plenty of data around the chassis during that time.
