Salvage Vehicle Auctions Could Go Public in Wisconsin

A senate bill has been introduced by the Wisconsin legislature that would eliminate the requirement of buyer identification cards to purchase vehicles from the salvage vehicle pool, according to the SEMA Action Network (SAN). Currently, only dealers may purchase scrap vehicles at auction.

This proposed bill would eliminate that requirement and would allow individuals the opportunity to purchases salvage vehicles. In exchange, salvage vehicle dealers would be required to keep records of each vehicle sold from the pool. In addition, the bill changes the definitions of junk and salvage vehicles to increase the number of vehicles classified as salvage.
