Roush Performance has just announced its first-ever collaboration with Nissan: the 2026 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X R by Roush. Adding to the Frontier PRO-4X platform, the PRO-4X R merges Nissan’s rugged truck heritage with Roush’s engineering expertise and off-road performance DNA, officials stated in a press release.
This all-new package for the 2026 Nissan Frontier combines a range of enhancements from Roush Performance and Nissan. It includes an upgraded suspension for better handling, titanium-painted exterior accents, exclusive off-road wheels and tires built to tackle tough terrain and distinctive interior upgrades.
Roush Performance has a longstanding history of working with various OEMs to develop specialty performance vehicles and engineering programs. Recognizing Roush’s track record and engineering expertise in the industry, Nissan decided to co-develop a high-performance off-road package that would fill a gap in its midsize truck lineup, noted the release.
The Nissan Frontier PRO-4X R Is Ready To Conquer Any Terrain
At the core of the PRO-4X R package is the all-new Roush Performance x Ohlins 2.0 Off-Road Suspension System that levels and lifts the vehicle 2 inches, improving approach and departure angles and providing superior damping control on the trail. The system also includes new upper control arms designed and engineered by Roush, as well as 2-inch diameter coil-over shocks with external reservoirs to reduce shock fade during extended off-road use.
Rear cooling fins, 18mm steel shafts and lightweight aluminum damper bodies provide optimal performance and durability. Roush engineers have specifically tuned and validated this all-new system for this vehicle, including over 125,000 miles of 329-rig durability simulation testing.
Styling the Nissan Frontier PRO-4X R Inside & Out
Nissan and Roush upgraded the exterior and interior of the PRO-4X R to give the Frontier a more aggressive look, officials added. The truck’s stance is elevated with a set of 265/70R17 Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme tires wrapped around 17-inch off-road wheels with “R” center caps, black lug nuts and a titanium finish.
The Frontier also features all-new PRO-4X R titanium badging on the grille and tailgate, as well as new “R” badging on the front fenders for a distinct look. A titanium-painted skid plate provides protection on the trail, while titanium-painted front grille inserts and a lower front fascia are complemented by Lava Red tow hooks. Inside, the PRO-4X R seats are embroidered with the same “R” logo, creating a custom look and feel in the cabin.
“We’ve taken decades of automotive engineering experience and developed performance components for the Nissan Frontier platform,” said VP Brand Jack Roush Jr. “The Frontier is a proven midsize truck, and we’re thrilled to partner with Nissan to offer this new trim to the world.”
The 2026 Nissan PRO-4X R by Roush starts at $47,960, and all Roush components are covered by a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty.
