PPG Recognized on Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable US Companies List
For second straight year, PPG is the only paints & coatings manufacturer to appear on list…

PPG announced that it has been recognized on Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable U.S. Companies 2025 list, ranking No. 62 out of the 1,000 largest publicly traded companies. It is the second consecutive year that PPG has appeared on the list as the only paints and coatings company.
Starting with the 1,000 largest publicly traded companies by market value—excluding real estate investment trusts—financial research firm Calvert ranked each company by how it performed in five key constituency categories: shareholders, employees, customers, community and the planet. It looked at more than 230 performance indicators from seven rating companies, including ISS, MSCI, and Sustainalytics, along with other data and Calvert’s internal research.
“For more than 140 years, innovating solutions with our customers has been critical to PPG’s success,” said Peter Votruba-Drzal, PPG vice president, global sustainability. “By ensuring that sustainability is embedded into our decision-making and innovation processes, we’re able to deliver sustainably advantaged solutions that enable us to grow with our customers by delivering on their needs in enhanced product performance, improved operational productivity and reduced overall value chain impacts.”
PPG Sustainability Efforts
According to PPG, its recent sustainability progress includes:
- Introduction of new product innovations with a sustainable advantage, including the PPG DURANEXT portfolio of electron beam (EB) and ultraviolet (UV) curable backers, primers, basecoats and clearcoats in the industrial coil segment. This lineup enables customers to reduce energy usage, water consumption and CO2 emissions compared to traditional thermal cure coatings.
- Continued investment in PPG’s signature COLORFUL COMMUNITIES program, with 58 projects completed in 27 countries in 2024.
- Continued strides toward 2030 science-based emissions reduction targets, such as installation of on-site solar at the company’s Caivano, Italy facility. This project is enabling CO2 emissions reduction of 390 metric tons annually, a 15% reduction in the site’s annual operating costs and supports our customers’ requirements for renewable energy in the manufacture of our products.
