Overland Expo Acquired by New Ownership
Lodestone Events has acquired Overland Expo, including two travel-enthusiast events set for May 17-19 in Flagstaff, Arizona and another planned for the Eastern U.S. in October.
The Overland Expo series is comprised of how-to seminars, hands-on field training, driving demos, hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of campers with adventure-ready motorcycles and rigs staged in a festival environment.
“We are excited to transfer ownership to the Lodestone Events team,” said Roseann Hanson, former Overland Expo executive director. “Our original goal was to create an environment for 4×4 and motorcycle adventure travel enthusiasts to get trained, get outfitted and get inspired to explore their world, whether that’s 100 miles or 10,000 miles from home. But it’s time to pass the reigns in order to propel the events to the next level and this partnership sets Overland Expo up for tremendous growth potential for the future.”
Lodestone Events is an event production company with core competencies in event planning & logistics, marketing & communications and sponsorship & exhibitor sales. The company is led by the former leadership team of Family Events, including Lindsay Hubley and Jessica Kirchner.
Overland Expo was founded in 2009 by overlanding hobbyists, journalists and conservationists, Roseann and Jonathan Hanson of ConserVentures LLC. The Hansons will stay on as consultants for the new ownership.
“Roseann and Jonathan created Overland Expo out of their passion for inspiring others to explore the world,” Hubley said. “Ten years later, they’ve developed Overland Expo into a top-notch event, beloved by overlanding enthusiasts world-wide, that is leading the overlanding movement in the automotive aftermarket and outdoor industry. We see significant opportunity to grow the events from their already strong foundation and we are excited to have Roseann, Jonathan and the original Overland Expo executive team on board to help maintain the original vision of the event.”
As part of the acquisition, Lodestone Events will take ownership of two Overland Sourcebooks produced in conjunction with the west and east events. The Overland Sourcebook is an overlanding industry company and products guide distributed at the events and online.
