Morgan Olson, a manufacturer of purpose-built commercial work vehicles, showcased its new Kestrel work truck platform at FDIC International. The Kestrel is a commercially available solution engineered for the most demanding first response use cases, company officials stated in a press release. It is purpose-built, fully validated and currently in production. The Kestrel represents a new class of compact four-wheel-drive, Class 2 commercial vehicle designed to support emergency response operations in both urban and rural environments.
Developed with direct input from fleet operators and real-world users, the Kestrel is not a retrofit or concept vehicle; it is a fully engineered commercial platform designed, tested and validated to meet federal safety requirements and the rigorous demands of daily fleet operation, noted the release.
The Kestrel’s Purpose-Built Design & Validation
First responders require vehicles that perform reliably in unpredictable, high-stress conditions. The Kestrel delivers proven four-wheel-drive capability for all-terrain access, compact maneuverability for dense environments, and a durable, purpose-built body engineered for continuous heavy use, the company said. Its design supports efficient equipment access and optimized workflows, enabling crews to respond quickly and operate effectively in time-critical situations.
Morgan Olson says the platform has undergone comprehensive validation, including fuel system integrity crash testing, multiangle crash validation, and stability control recalibration for commercial applications. These measures ensure the Kestrel delivers proven safety, durability and performance where reliability is essential.

Rather than a single-purpose vehicle, Morgan Olson demonstrated at FDIC International how the Kestrel platform can be configured to support a wide range of first responder applications, including fireground support, command and communications, EMS and rehabilitation units, logistics and equipment transport, and multiagency response roles. Its modular, upfit-ready design allows departments to tailor the vehicle to specific operational requirements while maintaining flexibility for future needs.
