Mickey Thompson Earns U.S. Export Achievement Certificate
Mickey Thompson Tires and Wheels has been awarded an Export Achievement Certificate from the U.S. Dept. of Commerce for its efforts to increase sales and strengthen business relationships in China and the Middle East.
Mickey Thompson representatives will accept the honor Nov. 6 during the International Happy Hour at the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
“In recognition of the company’s recent accomplishments in opening and expanding new export markets, Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels will be recognized with the prestigious U.S. Dept. of Commerce’s Export Achievement Certificate,” said Eduard Roytberg, senior international trade specialist for the U.S. Commercial Service, the trade promotion arm of the U.S. Dept. of Commerce, International Trade Administration. “This is an exemplary case of a public-private partnership working in support of an American company.”
Mickey Thompson was recommended for the award by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) following more than two years of efforts dedicated to increasing exports of its performance wheel and tire products.
The company initially participated in roundtables, meetings and seminars at the 2017 SEMA Export Fair, then joined the annual SEMA China Business Development Program in 2017 and ’18. It was also a part of the 2018 and ’19 SEMA (MDCP) Middle East Business Development Programs, as well as the bi-annual 2019 SEMA Export Fair. Additionally, the company exhibited at overseas trade shows and took advantage of measuring sessions for vehicles popular overseas but not sold in the U.S.
Following its participation in these and other programs, the company reported new export sales totaling more than $1.4 million to China, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar from 2017-’19.
