Mercedes-AMG Reveals Next-Generation GT3 & GT Black Series

Last year, Mercedes-AMG unveiled the CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT. That concept car now serves as a technology platform for two new performance models: the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the future Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.

“We are developing the most extreme Black Series ever. At the same time, we want to set the next record-breaker in motorsport with the future GT3,” said Michael Schiebe, member of the board of management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, production, quality & supply chain management, and chairman of the board of management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “The foundation for this is the CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT—a technology demonstrator that was more than just a concept from the very start. It is our unambiguous commitment to maximum performance, a promise for the racetrack and the road alike. At AMG, we develop vehicles to exceed expectations. And that is exactly what the future Black Series and the new GT3 will do.”

Two Vehicles, One Promise: Uncompromising Performance

With this project, the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach once again emphasizes its ambition to set new standards in both Customer Racing and on the road. The road-legal variant of the concept car serves as a homologation model for the GT3 successor. The name “TRACK SPORT” represents the uncompromising track performance of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the extreme road-legal performance that has always characterized Black Series models, company officials stated in a press release.

Since October 2025, the prototype, camouflaged with yellow and red accents, has undergone extensive dynamic testing on test tracks and race circuits. In addition to the in-house development track in Immendingen, this has included Bilster Berg, Portimão and Monteblanco. With the start of the testing phase on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the next stage of development is now underway.

In addition, the colors are now clearly defined. In the future, red will represent the Mercedes-AMG GT3 as a central element of the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport color scheme, while yellow will represent the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.

New Mercedes-AMG GT3: The Next Generation in Customer Racing

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 marks the logical evolution of Mercedes-AMG’s successful Customer Racing program, noted the release. The foundation for the brand’s Customer Racing commitment was set in 2010. The first full racing season followed in 2011 with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. This success story has continued with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 from 2016 and the Evo version from 2020.

The decision to develop a successor to the GT3 led to the establishment of Affalterbach Racing GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-AMG, which, together with Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, is responsible for the development and construction of the new vehicle. The new GT3 is currently in an intensive development phase. The aim is to continue the successful Customer Racing legacy while setting new standards in performance, safety and competitiveness.

“With the unveiling of the concept, we can now officially name the new Mercedes-AMG GT3, with which we aim to continue the success story in Customer Racing for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport,” said Christoph Sagemüller, head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. “Our goal is to once again present a vehicle that sets the benchmark. We have already gained important insights from the initial tests. We are now entering the next phase of development and will also be testing on race tracks relevant to GT Sport.”
