Lamborghini Announces Plans to End V10 Engine Production

The Lamborghini 634 will replace the Huracan & is expected to utilize a 4.0L V8 hybrid engine....

According to a new report from Jalopnik, Lamborghini is ready to move on from its 5.2L V10 engine after nearly 20 years. The end of the V10 engine will come in tandem with the end of the Huracan production run. The brand is expected to announce the follow-up model in the coming months.

Lamborghini has shared some information about the new engine; the replacement comes in the form of a flat-plane crankshaft V8 with 3 hybrid motors, including one positioned between the engine and transmission. The engine is expected to make 789 horsepower and will rev to 10,000rpm. For development the company is calling the model the Lamborghini ‘634’.

VW Group currently produces a 4.0L V8 for numerous models in the lineup but Lamborghini has said their engine is a bespoke project with the design team especially focused on the sound of the high revving engine.
