Indy Racing Experience to Offer IndyCar Rides to U.S. Vets

The Indy Racing Experience has partnered with VETMotorsports to provide to United States military troops and veterans with rides in its two-seater IndyCar at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

VETMotorsports is an award-winning, non-clinical outreach program that honors and empowers active military, National Guard, Reserve, Gold Star parents, and veterans with service-connected injuries and their caregivers through active participation in motorsports, according to the group. The program recruits participants, gives them hands-on access to a variety of motorsports experiences, and covers all expenses for them to take part.

The Indy Racing Experience and its team of professional race car drivers will provide up to five rides for military members and veterans in one of its purpose-built IndyCars to experience what it’s like to go up to 180 miles per hour at one of the world’s most storied tracks.

“We’ve given more than 12,000 rides to celebrities, media, race fans and car enthusiasts over the past 18 years of operating our once in a lifetime experiences,” said Scott Jasek, co-owner of Indy Racing Experience. “We’re excited to add active military members and veterans to that list. For everything they’ve done and continue to do, no one deserves this experience more, and VETMotorsports is a fantastic partner to work with to make it happen.”

“From SCCA and MotoAmerica events to the Baja 1000 and Pikes Peak International Hillclimb, we’ve given our military participants some pretty incredible experiences over the years,” said Peter Cline, VETMotorsports founder and executive director, “but getting the chance to experience the speeds and g-forces of a real IndyCar at a track like Indianapolis is something truly extraordinary. We’re incredibly grateful to the Indy Racing Experience for making it possible and excited for the men and women who’ll get to take part.

“VETMotorsports will be announcing the dates for these events throughout 2019. We encourage active military, Guard, Reserve, Gold Star parents and veterans with service connected injuries to follow VETMotorsports on social media. We encourage veteran service organizations wishing to collaborate with our efforts to reach out as well.”

Veterans and active military members interested in taking part in the Indy Racing Experience, can contact Cline at 614-407-3894.
