ICON 4×4 Unveils Its Newest Old School Thriftmaster Pickup
The company’s 30th Thriftmaster build is a high-performance truck that delivers the best of yesterday & today without compromise…
ICON 4×4 is celebrating the company’s 30th Thriftmaster build. Reimagined for the modern age, Thriftmaster #30 debuts in brilliant green livery in ICON’s Old School edition style. Featuring modern-day performance, ICON’s Old School #30 Thriftmaster subtly crafts a truck with sports car handling and performance in one of the world’s most revered transportation designs, company officials stated in a press release.
Complete with a four-wheel independent suspension chassis by Art Morrison Enterprises, dependable Brembo brakes and a hand-stitched saloon with leather interior, every detail creates a vibrant new ride that breathes new life into one of America’s most celebrated classic trucks, noted the release.
“The truck is super unique with tons of personality, and even though it may look like an old farm truck, this build delivers modern sports car performance,” comments ICON 4×4 founder Jonathan Ward. “I thought the client was a wee bit nuts with the concept, but we all absolutely love it. It’s an ICON Old School, which means this is a more retro representation of our brand that tries to capture the best of all worlds when it comes to design, performance and client preferences.”

Power & Performance of the ICON 4×4 Thriftmaster Build
The new ICON Thriftmaster #30 build is powered by an E-ROD LS3 6.2L V-8 engine producing 440 horsepower. The steering column, made by IDIDIT, features a tilt pivot. Steering is crisp and sharp thanks to a collapsible shaft in the engine bay with Borgeson Joints for enhanced safety, operating in concert with rack-and-pinion steering and an automatic transmission with overdrive to greatly increase reliability and decrease long-term vehicle wear.
The truck’s front features a GT sport independent suspension with a tunable sway bar with a Strange Dana 60 nodular third member in the rear. The combination gives the new #30 ICON Thriftmaster the power of a modern sports car alongside the capacity to haul light loads, the company said.

ICON Old School tires are included as part of the truck; in this case, 18-inch Forged Aluminum wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport ZR-rated 275/45ZR18 tires up front and 275/45ZR18 in the rear. With an aerospace-grade electrical system, ICON says that its commitment to building the very best for clients is what places the brand among the very best in the world when creating low-volume, hand-built trucks.
Inside the ICON 4×4 Thriftmaster Build
The interior of the new ICON Thriftmaster Old School #30 build features state-of-the-art technology. The dash maintains the period-correct color and chrome center grill with 3D printed inserts to better direct the airflow to the cabin. There are two more AC vents complementing those center vents, hidden at the bottom outboard edge of the dash on the driver and passenger sides. Old-school gauges by Dakota Digital, contoured with LED backlights, are reminiscent of the factory design.
The modern audio Bluetooth system is completely hidden, controlled by period-correct knobs milled by ICON. Audio bass is hidden by the center console of the custom front seat assembly with front speakers installed in custom pods on the driver and passenger sides. Power door locks and windows can be controlled solely by the driver’s side. The deep, dark, chocolate brown Alcantara headliner complements the hard garden square weave wool rugs. The custom leather hemmed on the wool rugs matches the seats and door panels.

The Thriftmaster’s Back End
Unique design customization continues to the bedliner with a classic, clean White Oak complemented with stainless-steel rails. Embedded within the rails are CNC cargo anchor tie downs, which pivot 360 degrees. The truck features ICON’s tailgate with polished stainless-steel arms that delete the old factory tailgate chains, and a center drop handle with bear claws that secure the door firmly with no rattles. The new Thriftmaster #30 build features New School taillights that deliver sharp style and higher visibility. The newest green ICON Thriftmaster features stately chrome side badges that match interior cabin elements.
ICON Thriftmaster commissions start at $225,000.
