Hyundai Motor Company has won the Best of Innovation Award in Robotics at CES 2026 for MobED (Mobile Eccentric Droid), developed by Hyundai Motor Group’s Robotics LAB. This recognition highlights the group’s advancements in robotics technology and its commitment to redefining mobility solutions, company officials stated in a press release.

The CES Innovation Awards program celebrates outstanding products for their achievements in design, innovation and engineering across various categories. The Best of Innovation Award is reserved for the top-rated product in each category. This is the first time Hyundai Motor has received the Best of Innovation award at CES.

“Winning this prestigious award reinforces our commitment to advancing robotics solutions that enhance everyday life,” said Dong Jin Hyun, vice president and head of Hyundai Motor Group’s Robotics LAB. “It is particularly significant to see MobED evolve from its debut as a concept at CES 2022 to receiving this accolade as a mass-production-ready platform. We will continue to develop robotics autonomous navigation technology and artificial intelligence technology to deliver innovative solutions that bring the potential of robotics closer to our customers.”

Available in two models, MobED Basic and MobED Pro, the platform meets a broad spectrum of needs, the company said. The MobED Basic model is controller-operated, offering flexibility for research and development, while the MobED Pro model harnesses advanced autonomous capabilities powered by integrated LiDAR-camera fusion sensors. Mass production for both models will commence in early 2026.

Part of Hyundai’s Broader Strategy for Smart Mobility Solutions

MobED’s unique capabilities include artificial intelligence (AI)-driven autonomous navigation, a customizable modular design, and sensors that provide safe, intuitive operation. Hyundai Motor Group says these capabilities empower the platform to navigate both narrow indoor paths and rugged outdoor terrains, making it suitable for diverse applications.

The innovation aligns with the group’s broader strategy to evolve from an automotive manufacturer into a comprehensive provider of smart mobility solutions.
