Hennessey Introduces 1,700-Horsepower Demon 1700 Twin-Turbo
New in-house division will produce just 12 examples for customers…
Hennessey Performance Engineering announces the introduction of its Dodge Demon 170 variant, the Demon 1700 Twin-Turbo.
Thie new model will be the first from Hennessey’s new in-house department called Hennessey Special Operations, or HSO.
“Demand has been strong—we had to shift from a tuning company to more of a factory to deliver 500 vehicles per year,” said John Hennessey, founder and CEO. “We’ve created a new division that allows us to build mega-powerful vehicles. Taking the Demon 170 to 1,700 horsepower was exactly what we’ve been wanting to do.”
Hennessey’s Demon 1700 Twin-Turbo features an all-new blueprinted engine and transmission. The coupe will have a target quarter-mile time of 7.9 seconds at 175 mph.
Production of the Demon 1700 Twin Turbo will be limited—HSO will only build 12 models, each with a base price starting at about $200,000, according to the company.
The Hennessey business now comprises Hennessey Special Vehicles, Hennessey Performance (HPE), Tuner School, the Lonestar Motorsports Park and HSO. The company has re-engineered more than 12,000 vehicles for performance enthusiasts worldwide.
The HSO division will build only 15 to 20 vehicles per year, with potential customers applying via the Hennessey HSO website.
