Ford Pro Celebrates a Decade of Work Vans With E-Transit Upgrades

Improvements include growing infrastructure, dual on-board chargers & new charging solutions...

Ford celebrates a decade of the Transit and its 10th year of U.S. production with enhancements to E-Transit range and new integrated solutions, helping to ease the transition to electric for commercial customers.

“We’ve assembled more than 1.2 million Transit vans in the last 10 years, and 99% of Transits are still on the road,” said Tim Baughman, Ford Pro general manager. “It’s Built Ford Tough, and businesses on every street corner rely on Transit to keep the country moving.”

Dual onboard chargers enable the new 2024 E-Transit battery to charge faster than ever.

Transit became America’s bestselling commercial van in late 2014 and outsold every other van before the end of 2016. Ford has continued to invest in new variants across the lineup, in 2020 adding optional all-wheel drive, unveiling the E-Transit electric van, and introducing Transit Trail to the lineup in 2022.

Since beginning U.S. production in April 2014, more than 1.2 million Transit vans have been assembled at the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri.

E-Transit gained popularity through its versatility. The E-Transit has saved customers more than 3 million gallons of gas and over 25 million kg of CO2 output since joining the Transit family in 2022, according to the EPA Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator.

New dual onboard chargers enable the E-Transit battery to charge faster. Fifteen minutes on a DC fast charger (180-plus kW) is estimated to add 67 miles of range on a 2024 E-Transit cargo van low-roof configuration. The 2024 E-Transit will charge from zero to 100% in just six hours and 11 minutes when using the now-available Ford Pro Series 2 80A charging station, providing a full charge overnight.

Available across the E-Transit van lineup, Pro Power Onboard provides 2.4 kW of power and is operable while the vehicle is in motion and while charging, enabling users to plug in a laptop, tools or other power equipment on the go.
