A new report from Car & Driver notes that Fiat has paused production of the Fiat 500e after only a few months of the model being available for the U.S. market. While the Fiat 500 has never been a big seller in the U.S., this points to the slowing interest in EV models, according to Car & Driver.

Fiat has sold just 204 examples of the 500e in 2024, with around 900 currently available for sale online. Stellantis points to the slowing sales numbers in Europe as the primary reason behind the production pause. The Turin factory will pause production on Sept. 13.

Amid the slowing sales, the site also reports that the manufacturer is working to develop a hybrid version of the 500 to help bolster sales over the coming years.
