DIESEL Motorsports Welcomes Gas Pickup Trucks To Compete at Its Events

The sanctioning body for diesel pickup trucks has opened all classes & competitions for gas engine trucks to compete against like trucks…

Moving into its 19th year as a sanctioning body for diesel pickup trucks, DIESEL Motorsports has now added gas pickup truck classes to its events. This includes drag racing, sled pulling, dyno and the Show-N-Shine competitions.

Gas engine trucks have always wanted to compete against their diesel powerhouse counterparts, but the issue has been the difference in the weight of the trucks, organization officials stated. An average gas engine truck is sometimes 1,800 pounds lighter than a diesel engine truck. DIESEL Motorsports says that it has run competitions between the two in the past, but the weight issues were always addressed to make it a fair race.

DIESEL Motorsports will still run gas vs. diesel classes at different events, but the weight difference will always be factored in for the class. Now the gas engine trucks have their own class to compete with like trucks for power, weight and electronics. All classes for gas engines will be stated for each event as box or no box, or footbrake/tailgate in ET Bracket, Heads-Up or Index Times.

All Trucks Must Adhere to Safety Rules

All truck classes, whether gas or diesel, will still need to follow DM/NHRA/IHRA safety rules for racing and DM/NTPA rules for sled pulling. The safety rules for trucks can be found under Rules on the DIESEL Motorsports site. The organization follows all the SFI safety standards set forth by the SFI Foundation and insurance companies.

DIESEL Motorsports says that all gas and diesel trucks are now welcome at all its events in all areas of competition. The upcoming schedule of events is available on the DIESEL Motorsports site.
