Classic Recreations Delivers First Mustang Under Velocity Ownership

Classic Recreations has completed its first Mustang since Velocity acquired the brand. The gray-and-black 1967-68 Shelby GT500CR Carbon was an in-process build from Classic Recreations’ prior ownership and now stands as the first completed Mustang from the reestablished production line. The carbon-bodied Mustang showcases Shelby-licensed styling, modern performance and the elevated production approach now guiding Classic Recreations under Velocity.

The finished Mustang reflects the direction of the reestablished Classic Recreations brand, combining the iconic presence of a 1967-68 Shelby GT500 with the fit, finish and performance expected from a modern continuation car. Finished in gray and black, the GT500CR Carbon features licensed Shelby design elements, a fully carbon-fiber body and a handcrafted interior built to complement the car’s classic character while meeting Velocity’s standards for usability, quality and execution.

After acquiring Classic Recreations and a thorough evaluation, Velocity determined that the Mustang did not meet its delivery standards. The Velocity team then spent the next six months rebuilding the vehicle through Velocity’s production process, reviewing each major system and refining the car’s engineering, drivability, craftsmanship and quality control. This first GT500CR Carbon is the result of that process.

Velocity says the completion of the first Classic Recreations Mustang under its leadership signals the next phase of production for the brand, with additional vehicles nearing completion each week. Production slots for Classic Recreations builds are now being filled for 2028 as customers reserve the next generation of Shelby-licensed continuation cars and custom Mustangs.
