CAN Names Reseller of the Year

Custom Automotive Network (CAN) has named Competition Specialties as 2017 Reseller of the Year.

The award is voted on by CAN membership in recognition of outstanding contributions to the custom automotive distribution system and in appreciation of conscientious dedication to the industry. The award was presented by Tracie Nunez, president of CAN, at the 44th annual CAN Connect Conference on Sept. 10. Can was formerly known as Performance Warehouse Association.

“Competition Specialties exemplifies excellence and is a true example of a prospering distributor business,”Nunez said. “They adhere to high standards and are committed to their manufacturing partners. It is a privilege to have them as long standing CAN members and see them recognized for their industry leadership.”

Competition Specialties Inc. is the West’s largest, most comprehensive wholesale-only warehouse distributor in the automotive aftermarket industry, according to the company. Founded in 1966 by Steve Woomer, this family owned and operated endeavor continually aspires to exceed industry standards in all business aspects and vigorously supports the automotive aftermarket distribution system.

From the humble beginnings of the Woomer family’s Seattle garage, CSI has grown to 270,000-square-feet divided among four sites in Washington, Oregon and California.

CSI’s customer base is composed of automotive parts retailers, dealerships, specialty automotive installers, other related industry retailers and e-commerce fulfillment, according to the company.

Ken Woomer, CSI president and owner, encourages his team to go beyond self-expectations, produce excellence and participate in industry stewardship, according to the company. Active in leadership roles of various associations, Woomer believes CSI’s health is a reflection of the strength and positive evolution of the automotive aftermarket. Competition Specialties promotes and practices leadership and innovation within the industry to help foster continuous growth and development.

CAN was founded in 1970 as Performance Warehouse Association. For over 40 years, CAN has been hosting its annual three-day conference where distributors meet with manufacturers in a private setting.
