California Governor Strikes Down Audio Speed Warnings

Following recent reports that California would require audio speeding alerts in all its vehicles, a new report from Motor 1 states that California’s governor, Gavin Newsom, has struck down the proposed regulation. 

The regulations would’ve required cars to make an alert for drivers who drove more than 10 mph over the speed limit. While many expected the California governor to back the proposal, Newsom cited not wanting to undermine the NHTSA’s federal regulations.

“California-specific requirements would create a patchwork of regulations that undermines this longstanding federal framework,” said Newsom in a statement explaining the decision.
