Celebrating Iconic Cars & the Evolution of the Turbocharger
Showcasing excellence in automotive design and engineering, the event—the world’s longest continuously running concours—was highlighted by the display of more than 200 vintage and classic cars, stated event organizers in a press release. This year’s concours paid tribute to the world’s most popular and powerful turbocharged vehicles. Special displays saluted the 50th anniversary of Ferrari’s 308/328, as well as the 90th anniversary of Volkswagen’s iconic Beetle and the 75th anniversary of its legendary Bus. The show’s 24 judged classes included two new entries: pre- and post-war Cadillac.
The 69th Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance was highlighted by a special appearance by legendary restoration expert, racing driver, and automotive engineer Bruce Canepa. During an interview with Hillsborough Concours chairman emeritus Rob Fisher, Canepa shared firsthand insights into how turbocharging revolutionized automotive performance, from Le Mans prototypes to iconic road cars. Their discussion traced the evolution of this technology and its lasting impact on speed, efficiency and engineering innovation.
