AMSOIL Racing Takes to the Open Desert with Lovell Racing

AMSOIL Inc. is expanding its off-road racing program in 2019 to include open desert racing. Veteran off-road racer Brad Lovell will compete in both SCORE and Best in the Desert in a new Spec Trophy Truck adorned in AMSOIL livery. Lovell joined Team AMSOIL in 2005 as a championship-winning rockcrawler and has gone on to win championships in King of the Hammers and short-course, off-road racing.

AMSOIL INC. has a rich history in off-road racing through the TORC Series and King of the Hammers; now it is time to compete in the open desert – the biggest stage of all. Races in extreme heat over distances from 200 to 1,000 miles will push man, machine and lubricants to their limits.

“Racing continues to be a key part of proving and testing AMSOIL synthetic lubricants,” said Kevin Kastner, AMSOIL racing and events manager. “Endurance racing in the desert provides a true test of man and machine. Brad Lovell and his team are no strangers to overcoming adversity, and we are committed to supporting his move into an exciting new chapter of AMSOIL off-road racing.”

Spec Trophy Truck is an unlimited division requiring only a sealed engine and limited tire size; everything else is fair game. The class has seen explosive growth over the past five years, due in large part to its extreme competitiveness.

“We have competed in all types of off-road racing, and I have eagerly waited for a shot at the desert,” said Brad Lovell. “This is going to be a tough class and we’re ready to show them what we are about. We’re confident that we have the best backing with AMSOIL, BFGoodrich Tires, Geiser Brothers, Method Race Wheels, Spidertrax Off-Road and others.”

Lovell and his team will kick off its desert-racing season March 4 with the Mint 400 in Las Vegas.
