At the New York event, the company also launched its “America's Original Influencer” advertising campaign starring LL COOL J…

The all-new 2026 Jeep Cherokee was revealed as part of a takeover event in Brooklyn’s historic Domino Park, Aug. 21. The live Jeep 4×4 City Camp experience included a musical performance by LL COOL J, whose lyrics “Don’t Call it a Comeback” from his track “Mama Said Knock You Out” are featured in the brand’s new 60-second “America’s Original Influencer” campaign, now live on the Jeep brand’s social media channels. The campaign, developed in partnership with Doner, highlights the Jeep Cherokee’s 50-plus-year history in the SUV segment.

“I’ve been driving Jeep 4x4s for years—IYKYK,” said LL COOL J. “We go way back, so it’s an honor to be part of the iconic Jeep Cherokee’s return. Our bond is built on mutual respect: style, originality and always striving for the top. Not just for ourselves, but for everyone who chooses to ride with us on this journey.”

“As we imagined the appropriate way to celebrate the return of an American icon like the Jeep Cherokee, it only seemed fitting to join hands with LL COOL J,” said Olivier Francois, global chief marketing officer, Stellantis. “With this campaign, we acknowledge both LL’s influence in music and the one Jeep Cherokee has held over the past 50 years in the automotive category.”

“New York, with all its grit and influence, made it the perfect place to launch the all-new 2026 Jeep Cherokee in front of so many Jeep fans and alongside the original influencer himself, LL COOL J,” said Bob Broderdorf, Jeep CEO. “Not only is the northeast a massive market for midsize SUVs, but more importantly, it’s been the backdrop for so many Jeep Cherokee memories for families through the generations. We’re proud the all-new Jeep Cherokee hybrid, with its best-in-class capability, more cargo room and over 500 miles of adventure on a single tank, will continue driving that legacy forward for the next generation.”

The vehicle reveal was live-streamed in Times Square and broadcast on SiriusXM LL COOL J’s Rock the Bells Radio.

The All-New 2026 Jeep Cherokee

The all-new 2026 Jeep Cherokee returns with a new 1.6-liter turbo-four hybrid engine with an estimated 37 mpg combined and more than 500 miles to a tank of fuel.

“The 2026 Jeep Cherokee redefines what a modern midsize SUV can and should be—a striking, turbocharged vehicle with 500-plus miles of range, uncompromising safety and the capability to chase every adventure,” said  Broderdorf. “Powered by our new, efficient hybrid propulsion system, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is built to compete, inspire and take back our place in North America’s largest vehicle segment.”

Hybrid Propulsion Provides Greater Fuel Economy

The 2026 Jeep Cherokee is the first Jeep brand hybrid system, and a Stellantis first in North America, highlighting the company’s growing multi-energy strategy, company officials stated in a press release.

“The new 1.6-liter hybrid engine is a major step forward in delivering both performance and efficiency for our customers,” said Micky Bly, Stellantis senior vice president and head of global propulsion systems. “Over millions of miles of development and testing, we’ve dialed in this new hybrid powertrain to deliver all the performance you need for your daily adventures, with electrified torque and worry-free range wherever the road takes you.”

Composed of an internal-combustion engine, two electric motors and a battery, the propulsion system delivers 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque. Production of the innovative new propulsion system will take place at Stellantis’ Dundee Engine Plant in Michigan.

More Space, More Tech & More Standard Equipment

The 2026 Jeep Cherokee boasts a larger, thoughtful and technology-filled interior space, ready to tackle any adventure, noted the release.

The 2026 Jeep Cherokee maximizes space—not only with a new rotary gear selector to make room for everyday items, but also for cargo space. Compared to the previous Cherokee, the 2026 Cherokee has 30% more cargo capacity.

4×4 Capability of the 2026 Jeep Cherokee

Jeeps says that, atop more standard equipment, more technology and an efficient propulsion system to take customers further on a single tank of gas, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee provides legendary 4×4 capability and a host of class-exclusive and best-in-class features:

  • Standard Jeep Active Drive I 4×4 system with standard rear-axle disconnect
  • Selec-Terrain traction management with four driving modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud
  • Best-in-class approach and departure angles of 19.6 and 29.4 degrees, respectively
  • Breakover angle of 18.8 degrees
  • 8 inches of ground clearance

The Evolution of the Original SUV Design

The 2026 Jeep Cherokee carries an all-new, redesigned exterior that looks to the past for 50 years of inspiration but wears a distinctly modern look, the company stated. The 2026 Cherokee is longer, taller and wider than the previous Cherokee with sharp edges to recall Cherokee models from yesteryear, and the design team says that it worked to create a more upright character. The front fascia includes boxy, squared-off LED headlights with daytime running light accents that create a distinct U-shape. The overarching profile is simple, squared off and plays with big, bold shapes that are distinctly Jeep.

“From every angle, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee evokes the best of the brand’s rich design history,” said Vince Galante, vice president, Jeep global design. “These bold, upright shapes are complemented by Jeep’s iconic seven slot grille, boxy side profile and distinctive jerrican-inspired taillight design, giving it an instantly recognizable signature on the road.”

Inside the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is a larger cockpit and more interior storage than any Cherokee before; the 2026 Cherokee also blends elevated material choices for the segment. This includes a unique perforation pattern for the Cherokee Overland trim. Jeep designers say that sustainability remains a goal as well, including non-leather materials, recycled materials for the floor carpets and more.

A Global Black interior motif is standard on the 2026 Cherokee, while the Arctic interior is optional on Laredo, Limited and Overland trims.
