Velocity Modern Classics Introduces Line of Chevrolet K5 Blazers

Velocity Modern Classics is adding a new line of classic Chevrolet K5 Blazers restomods to its turnkey vehicle lineup, the company announced.

Built to the same standards as Velocity’s classic Bronco and F-series truck lines, the new 1969-72 Velocity K5 Blazers have been reimagined and rebuilt as turnkey drivers. They feature restored bodies paired with V8 engines and modern drivetrains. The K5s also come equipped with handcrafted custom interiors and plenty of modern creature comforts, the restomod builder said.

Sitting on a Velocity Modern Classics frame, each Velocity Blazer comes outfitted with a Dana 44 front axle and Dana 60 rear. A 6.2L Gen V LT1 engine provides 455 horsepower and is mated to a 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission. A custom-built performance exhaust accentuates the roar of the V8, while Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes stop the Blazer.

The interior and exterior of the truck have been reimagined to include modern features, Velocity designers said. The exterior features custom Glasurit single or two-tone paint and an OEM-style hardtop, as well as JW Speaker LED headlights set in a bespoke chrome grill with matching chrome bumpers. The K5 grips the road thanks to 35-inch BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires wrapped around 17-inch Pacer polished steel wheels. Amp Research PowerStep retractable running boards, all-new glass and weather seals complete the exterior.

Inside the cabin, each Blazer offers color-matched upholstery, carpet, dash pad, custom headliner and optional Velocity door panels as a nod to classic GM vehicles. Velocity-exclusive bucket seats in the front and a rear bench provide seating for passengers and are available in marine-grade vinyl or custom leather. The front buckets can also be optionally heated or ventilated. A Bluetooth stereo pumps sound to the Focal Audio speakers and subwoofer, with an optional upgrade to include an Apple CarPlay-enabled touch screen with a backup camera. Modern climate control is handled through a Vintage Air air-conditioning system, and a Velocity-exclusive Dakota Digital gauge cluster and Ididit tilt steering column accent the custom dash. Other optional upgrades include an anti-theft system, interior billet appearance package and XM radio.

“The Signature Series K5 Blazer is a testament to Velocity’s passion for bringing classic restoration artistry to the modern world,” said Director of Research and Development Cody Dabney. “Our team has been working tirelessly to overengineer every aspect of these vehicles, ensuring they’re not only beautiful but also reliable and functional. The K5 is a great addition to our line of signature vehicles, and we can’t wait to get it out to the world.”

The Velocity K5 Blazer will serve as Velocity’s third line of Signature Series vehicles, joining the Bronco and F-250 lines.
