Nissan Introduces 2024 Frontier With Hardbody Edition

Nissan has introduced the new 2024 Frontier and its 1980s-themed Hardbody Edition.

The special edition package revives design cues from the original Nissan Hardbody of the 1980s to replicate the look of the original truck, the company said.

The Hardbody Edition starts with the Crew Cab SV 4×4 and features three-spoke, heritage-styled 17-inch alloy wheels that closely replicate the look of those on the original truck, shod in all-terrain tires, Nissan designers said. An aluminum skid plate, black over-fenders, a black side rail, mud flaps and a bed-mounted sport bar contribute to the retro-rugged look.

The Hardbody Edition wears black-painted bumpers, mirrors, door handles and grille. Completing the package, the truck wears black graphics with a large “4×4” logo on the front doors and a tailgate graphic that features a cut-out “Nissan” logo, replacing the truck’s typical Nissan tailgate emblem, designers said.

Also new for the 2024 model year, Frontier Crew Cab adds the new SL grade. Replacing the outgoing SV Premium Package, the trim level includes LED headlights, fog lights, daytime running lights and interior lighting, leather seating with heated front seats, 120-volt power outlets in the bed and rear center console, and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. Additional features include a power tilt and slide sunroof, spray-in bedliner, Utili-Track System with two adjustable tie-down cleats, remote engine start, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The full Frontier lineup is powered by a standard 310-horsepower, 3.8-liter direct-injection V6 engine, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and towing capacity of up to 6,640 lbs. 4×4 models are also equipped with a steel front skid plate, front tow hooks (one only on S grade 4×4), Hill Descent Control and a 4-wheel limited-slip system.

The PRO-X and PRO-4X grades add Bilstein off-road shock absorbers and 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. The PRO-4X also features an electronic locking rear differential and additional underbody skid plates with visual differentiation that includes Lava Red accents on the tow hooks, wheel caps, door panels, instrument panel, console, seats and available leather-appointed seats, LED headlights, fog lights and daytime running lights, bedside decals, as well as exclusive floor mats and stitching throughout the cab.

Interior appointments include a 7-inch Drive-Assist Display and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, and an available 9-inch infotainment screen. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included as standard, with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless device charging included on the PRO-grade models.

Other available technology includes a Fender premium audio system with 10 speakers, Intelligent Around View Monitor (PRO-4X models add an Off-Road Mode) and a Wi-Fi Hotspot.
