K5 Blazer Joins Velocity Modern Classics Signature Series Lineup

Velocity Modern Classics has just unveiled its new line of classic Chevy K5 Blazers, the company announced.

The new 1969-72 Velocity K5 Blazers have been reimagined and rebuilt from the ground up as modernized turnkey drivers, and feature brand new bodies paired with V8 engines and modern drivetrains, as well as handcrafted custom interiors and modern accessories, Velocity’s designers said.

Sitting on a Velocity-exclusive Roadster Shop K5 Chassis, each Velocity Blazer comes outfitted with a Dana 44 front axle and Dana 60 rear with a 3.73 gear ratio and integrated front and rear sway bars. The Atlas 2 transfer case provides the versatility needed for off-road adventures, while the adjustable Fox coilovers and 4-link suspension with triangulated rear ensure a comfortable and controlled ride. A 6.2L Gen V LT1 engine brings the K5 to life with 460 horsepower mated to a 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission. Other details include a custom-built performance exhaust combined with a Magnaflow muffler, and 11-inch Wilwood disc brakes, 6-piston front and 4-piston rear, to provide stopping power.

The exterior features custom Glasurit paint and a 6-point roll cage with safari top and LED dome lights. JW Speaker LED headlights provide light from a bespoke chrome grill with matching chrome bumpers. The K5 grips the road with 35-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires wrapped around 18-inch alluminum alloy wheels. All-new glass and weather seals, along with AMP Research PowerStep retractable running boards, complete the exterior. Optional upgrades include two-toned Glasurit paint, an exterior billet package, an OEM-style hard top with color-matched headliner and belt line trim.

As a nod to classic GM vehicles, each Blazer offers color-matched upholstery, carpet, dash pad, custom headliner and optional Velocity door panels, the company’s designers said. Procar bucket seats in the front and rear bench provide passenger seating and are available in marine-grade luxury vinyl or custom leather for a more premium feel. The front buckets can also be optionally heated or ventilated. A double din Alpine head unit with Apple Carplay directs sound to the Focal Audio speakers and subwoofer, with an optional upgrade to include a backup camera. Modern climate control is handled through a Vintage Air air-conditioning system, and a Velocity-exclusive Dakota Digital gauge cluster and classic wood steering wheel attached to an Ididit tilt steering column accent the custom dash. Other optional upgrades include an anti-theft system, interior billet appearance package and XM radio.

In addition to the standard Signature Series trim, Velocity also offers a Heritage Edition trim. The exterior of the Heritage Edition receives two-tone Glasurit paint, paint-matched bumpers and roll cage, paint-matched engine compartment and belt line trim to add additional style. Underneath, 18-inch painted steel wheels are wrapped in 35-inch Toyo tires. Velocity billet components replace the original handles, mirrors and more throughout. Inside, the Heritage Edition Blazer receives custom carpet with sound deadening and leather seats with woven, double diamond or classic stitching for additional customization. The classic wood steering wheel is replaced by a Space Industries steering wheel wrapped in leather, and an upgraded Focal stereo system provides sound to the cabin. For an added touch of luxury, Velocity also offers Spinneybeck leather seats.

“The K5 Blazer is the first non-Ford addition to our Signature Series, and we’re proud to offer such variety,” said Velocity CEO Jeremy Hans. “Our team over-engineers every aspect of our classics, ensuring they’re not only beautiful but also reliable and functional. The K5 is an excellent addition to our line of signature vehicles, and we’re excited to give the world a chance to experience this iconic American vehicle.”
