Inaugural Grand National Truck Show to Debut in September

Hundreds of trucks, vans and SUVs will take center stage at the inaugural O’Reilly Auto Parts Grand National Truck Show at the Fairplex in Pomona on Sept. 16-17, event organizers announced.

The new show, produced by Rod Shows, was created to celebrate the growing popularity of these vehicles among collectors, builders and customizers, event officials said.

The Grand National Truck Show is open to all types and styles of trucks, vans and SUVs from 1900 to today, regardless of make, model or year.

Inside the buildings, entrants will compete for awards in more than 35 judged classes, including the inaugural World’s Most Beautiful Truck award presented by ARP Fasteners. The winner of the prize will receive $12,500 and a custom trophy. Additional awards will be presented for best display, paint, interior, engine, detailing and more.

“So many people are passionate about beautiful trucks and different types of vehicles. We wanted to create a show that celebrates these hard-working showpieces,” said John Buck, owner of Rod Shows. “With our long history of hosting shows at the Fairplex, we’re excited to see a lot of new and familiar faces this September.”

Local enthusiasts are also encouraged to show off their vehicles at the Grand National Truck-In, a two-day outdoor portion of the show open to all years and styles of trucks, SUVs and vans, Rod Shows said.

Additional entertainment includes vendors, food and live entertainment, as well as a Pinstriper Charity Auction, which features pinstripers creating art to be auctioned off for charity. For a minimal donation, attendees can bring a cell phone, laptop or other item to get pinstriped for a great cause. All proceeds benefit the Volunteers for Veterans Foundation. The show will also include a cornhole tournament offering up $1,000 in prize money.
