ECD Auto Design Reveals EV Restomod Built for Off-Roading

ECD Auto Design (ECD) has revealed its latest build, a Defender 90 powered by the restomod builder’s EV2 drivetrain system, the company announced.

Features of Project Margaux include four-wheel drive, creep mode and regen braking for incline control and fast charging, the company said.

“EVs are no longer just for city driving – they can do it all. Project Margaux is the perfect example of how ECD’s EV2 system can perform on par with, and in some cases better than, a traditional V8 engine,” said ECD CTO and co-founder Elliot Humble.

Larger battery packs offset added weight from off-roading upgrades such as a roll cage and make high-grade mountain roads inconsequential obstacles. Plus, for adventurers looking to become one with nature, an EV is a logical choice – a quieter drivetrain means more wildlife sightings.

Project Margaux, finished in a metallic red, features modern safety upgrades, including a black multi-point roll cage and custom steering guard. BFGoodrich All Terrain tires and an ECD air ride suspension system add off-road capability, and complement other off-road and overlanding accessories, including the LED spotlight in the rear and a hitch receiver for trailers.
