KPI — April: Recent Vehicle Recalls

2019-2020 Ram 1500, 1500 Classic and Jeep Compass

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 425,600 model year 2019-2020 Ram 1500 and 1500 Classic pickup trucks and Jeep Compass SUVs produced before March 3rd

The Problem: The windshield wiper arm or arms may loosen, possibly causing the wipers to not operate properly. This reduces the driver’s visibility in certain weather conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will tighten the wiper nuts for free.

2019-2020 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram Vehicles

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 318,500 model-year 2020 Jeep Gladiator and Cherokee SUVs; model year 2019-2020 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, Chrysler Pacifica minivans, Dodge Durango SUVs, as well as Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wrangler and Renegade SUVs; and model year 2019 Dodge Challenger coupes, all equipped with 8.4” or 12” multimedia displays

The Problem: A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of Reverse, which can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will update the display software for free.

2019 Subaru Ascent, Impreza, Legacy, Outback

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 188,200 model-year 2019 Subaru Ascent SUVs, Impreza sedans/hatchbacks, Legacy sedans and Outback wagons

The Problem: The low-pressure fuel pump may include an impeller manufactured with a lower density that can develop cracks, potentially causing it to become inoperative and increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the fuel pump for free.

2020 Ford Expedition, F-150, Ranger

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 55,200 model year 2020 Ford Expedition SUVs equipped with the Police Package and a 10-speed automatic transmission, as well as F-150 and Ranger pickup trucks equipped with the 10-speed automatic

The Problem: A clip that locks the gearshift cable to the transmission may not be fully seated, which can allow the transmission to be in a gear different from the position selected by the driver. This could allow the driver to move the shifter to Park and remove the ignition key without the transmission gear being in Park, potentially causing an unintended rollaway and increasing the risk of an injury or a crash. Ford said it is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the shift cable locking clip and properly seat it, as needed, for free.

2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 14,900 model year 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks equipped with Rugged Liner hard, tri-fold tonneau covers sold as accessories

The Problem: The attachment system may not properly secure the cover to the pickup bed, which could lead to separation and the cover becoming a road hazard, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the tonneau rails and install improved attachments for free.

2020 Hyundai Nexo, Sonata

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 11,900 model-year 2020 Hyundai Nexo SUVs and Sonata sedans

The Problem: The Remote Smart Parking Assist software may fail to prevent vehicle movement upon detection of a system malfunction, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will reprogram the Remote Smart Parking Assist software for free.

2013-2016 BMW 3 Series

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 8,500 model year 2013-16 BMW 3 Series sedans and model year 2013-2015 3 Series wagons

The Problem: The constant-velocity joint, which transfers power between the transfer case and the rear drive shaft, may become damaged. This can possibly result in loss of power to the rear wheels. Additionally, unintended rollaway may occur when the vehicle is parked after a loss of power to the rear wheels and the parking brake is not engaged. Either state increases the risk of a crash or an injury.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the constant-velocity joint and inspect the transfer case, replacing it if necessary, for free.

2019 Subaru Crosstrek

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 4,900 model year 2019 Subaru Crosstrek SUVs equipped with rear seat belt assemblies with a dual-mode locking mechanism

The Problem: The seat belt webbing sensor locking mechanism may not lock as intended. If so, an occupant cannot be properly restrained in a crash involving multiple impacts, increasing the risk of an injury.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the rear seat belt assemblies for free.
